    Engine Swaps

are there any engine swaps for the 8G...99 to be specific. Does the VR4 swap?

clay dropped in an evo motor successfully. mante did the 6a13TT from the vr4 and got partially done and then scrapped it.

you might also want to look into the ripp mods supercharger or maybe a turbo kit since those can give you some significant gains also, sometimes for cheaper too.

i think he's talking about the 3g eclipse. well the 8g galant and the 3g eclipse shares the same v6. there is a slight difference with the gts eclipse. but for the price to upgrate your 8g motor to be like the gts motor would be a waste of money. the amount of gains wouldn't be enough to compare to how much u would spend if u bought all the parts.

o...i haven't kept up much with the Mitsu engines. Is the Euro market offer different engines like Honda does? Or how difficult is it to put a VR4 into a 8G inline 4?

the JDM engines are not that easy to swap in since USDM mitsubishi is a very different car from the JDM versions. if you want to do it figure spending thousands and having almost no source for spare parts (unless you buy another engine to pull from). your best bet is to turbo or supercharge... the easiest swap to do into the USDM 4g64 2.4L i4 is the 6g72 3.0L v6 from the USDM v6 galants but that too is not very cost effective since you will only gain about 50-70 hp.

50-70 hp isn't bad. As far as cost effective, an engine with more aftermarket support and more potential for power is more cost effective than spending money on a 2.4in and getting numbers that just peak around a low tuned V6. The V6 has a lot more aftermarket support and i prefer V6 power than 2.4in. Also the V6 does have better power range and a 2.4.

    So go buy a V6.

matt's right... if u were even thinking about doing the 2.4L to 3.0L swap might as well just trade up for a 8Gv6 and move your current mods.
