A filipino's number one dream is to own a car before anything else. In the philippines, most private car owners consider their vehicles as an extension of their home but with one differrence: a home is where his wife cooks while a car is where his girlfriend builds a fire. Hmmm...

that still sounds wrong. are you sure that is the stock size for your car... the 8th gen galant runs around 25" diameter stock in the US... 205/55r16 (24.9") for v6 and 195/60r15 (24.2") for the i4. 215/45r17 is (24.6") which is only 2.7% too slow when compared to your current tire (at 100mph, your car would show 97-98 mph)... that is not a big enough difference to have to recalibrate the speedo. does your speed have a digital readout or is it just a needle/dial?

well i was thinking of going to 215/50/r17 so its going to be 6.19% , and i have a needle/dial

please recheck that your stock size is 195/65r14... that still sounds too small.

ok, your version of the 8g galant comes with 195/65r14 tires stock. if that is the case, go with 215/45r17 since that is only 2.7% difference in diameter... not enough to have to recalibrate ur speedo. 215/50r17 is too tall and although you can simply remove and replace your speedo needle to adjust for the difference at the speed limit (it will read fast under that point and slow over that point), you can not adjust your transmission for the difference and that could possibly cause serious problems... long story short, not worth it, just go w/ 215/45r17.

wtf 195?? are you in a different country? the sticker with the tire inflation information on the driver side frame between the two doors. Use the tire sized listed there as your stock tire size

so your problem is with the 195 not the r14 ?! huh ? :)

Reelax thx mate , my first choise was the 215/45r17 but as the road to my work is full of bumps and holes i though i go with the 50 .

haha I guess I have a little bit of a problem with both! :P dang 14 inch wheels must look TINY

if you go with the 50 series, your mileage will end up being off in the long run. What you could do though its just drive a little under the speed limit, so its off by 6.7%. I think that's 6.7% fast right? so according to your speedo, just go like 3-5 mph slower

2001 Galants came with either 195/65R15's or 205/55R16's. Maybe earlier 8G's came with 14's standard, although I seriously doubt it, and certainly earlier generations came with 14's. 2001's are what I'm most familiar with...
