Why a prosport wideband? I do believe you cant log on evoscan with those.

Also are you sticking with stock bore?

Also new pumps and seals, along with a oil return to the pan

Yes stock bore 93mm pistons. I am getting the block honed out so they will fit better.

Prosport is actually just the gauge and the o2 sensor can be wired to the ecu for evoscan readings.

I have all the pumps + seals; figuring I wouldn't add it to the list as its standard for a tear apart and build.

and oil return to the pan, thank you!!! forgot to put that in my list.

Build list looks great Keith! One thing I would seriously consider is something other than the 6G74 cams, because I honestly believe you will be disappointed with the non-existent top end. I was at Justin's place last night, and his 3.6 turbo build should be road worthy this weekend. It'll be just be a matter of time to get clear results on how the powerband is shifted with the RPW Stage 2's on a Holset-boosted 74.

I honestly planned on using 6g75 heads with their stock cams. But I'm having trouble sourcing them at a decent price. I'm not even sure the 6g75 heads bolt up to the 6g74 engine.

How much were the cams for his build? Keep me updated or the forums updated on this other guys build. I'm interested to know how it goes.

75 Heads fit for sure but I'd seriously dump that spec clutch!!! Lice list so far

get rid of the spec clutch!? This is the same one that ripped my last transmissions differential out. I'm a spec fan for life lol as far as grabbing goes.

one of my buddies in socal is selling 6G75 for $200. LMK

btw I run a SPEC clutch as well. It has been fine.

  9. #629
I've don a ton of research on spec and it's not a really reliable clutch the problem with them is the rivits on the friction disc break, now with the power your gonna put down with this build you should really conciter upgrading to a much better clutch because i highly dout it's going to hold up! When these clutches go they also damage the flywheel just a chance not worth taking.... I will say that they do grab pretty well but your looking for something that's going to last also.

No offense beam but your running a stock 74 and I dout your accually launching you car plus IMO you've been lucky thus far...

Yes both kinds of 6g75 heads bolt up, I've test fitted both on my 6g72 when the front head was off, remember, Boostzealot is running 6g75 internals (with oversize OE rings) and fixed timing 6g75 heads in/on a 6g74 block
Just because something is old, doesn't mean you throw it away

    Geordi La Forge

i think boostzealot has a pair of ported 74 heads available...if needed

I've heard some GREAT things about SPEC clutches. But hey, what do those guys know, they just track their cars all the time.

there was a bad batch of spec clutches that went out a while ago....i believe it was only a problem with the stage 3 iirc, inevitably all the bad rep theyve been getting is more or less due to that....nevertheless, i had 2 stage 2 clutches and the only problem i had with them at all was the one only lasted about 20k miles....i was a nice clutch overall

yea the pan fits the 74, in fact iirc thats the reason the stock manifolds etc dont fit, some of the guys who do a direct swap just switch over to the 72 pan

  18. #638
Good to know! I was thinking the crank was too big for it or something lol. Thanks for the info. Guess I Don't need my weld on -10an fitting anymore lol.

Fact of the matter guys weather spec is a reliable clutch or not there's no way a stage 2 clutch is going to hold up to a boosted v6! Final answer!!!

the stage 2 will hold a little over 300hp, its good for low boost not too much power builds but you will certainly need a stage 3 at least with your current plans....
