    Thinking of Buying a GTZ

Hello TGC. I have been a member over on club3g for a while and i lerk here every now and then just browsing. I have had 2 eclipses both GT's 1st one a 04 and 2nd one a 00 with a 3.5 swap. I am looking for a 4dr everyday car to drive around that is automatic because driving stick everyday has gotten old and i am ready to park my 06 Accord 6speed and do some work on it. I have my eye on 3 GTZ's and i know Alot about the eclipses in general but kind of clueless on the Galant sort of. I hear its just a 4dr eclipse but what are some common issues to look for when buying one? Id say im pretty knowledgeable on cars in general so any tips will defiantly be noted. All 3 cars are silver( I hate silver)but its really not that big of a deal. If i got one this car would possibly become a road trip car also. The Maxima 97-03 is another option also but im scared of their Transmissions and i am cheap. Sorry for the rants but im just racking my brain trying to figure what to get that will be overall a good comfortable, sporty,Non Problematic DD without getting a boring Toyota.

    Thanks in advance.

They are very similar to the 3G's, No issues to complain about both my 8G's.

Welcome. I recognize you from c3g. Mechanically there should be no differences. same engine, transmission, suspension. Everything you know about the eclipse will carry over to the galant except the different options for visual appeal.

BTW, I always admired the white and black top 3G. Welcome, let us see the G's you have been looking at?

Hey welcome! The Galant is identical to the Eclipse as far as suspension setup and engine/transmission setup. If you want a 4 door 3g Eclipse, the Galant is perfect.

Plus side is, you already know how to work on these cars.

1st choice, lowest price and decent mileage. Best choice because complete stocker.

    2nd link way too much!!!

3rd link, it's pretty sweet, already has JDM tails, 4G wheels and it looks lowered and few other mods. But more miles and older. Worth the extra 500 IMO.

Exactly. I will probably get the 1st one but not sure really. It has been sitting on that lot over a year. I can always make it look the way i want its not that serious to me.

I like the first one (well I like them all actually), just a couple inaccuracies though, it looks like a GTZ though they have it listed as an ESV6, has the CF trim inside and GTZ door claddings as well as GTZ on the trunk, but it has the chrome trim and red trunk emblem of the 8Ga ('99-'01) even though it's an 8Gb ('02-'03). But if she runs good, I say go for it!! Good luck!

See great eye. I would have never known that. Trunk probably has been replaced because when i looked at the car i could tell the paint back there wasn't Oem. But im not afraid of this long as its no noises etc. Ill defiantly look at it close when i go drive it.

Make sure the trunk lines up well and that the release from inside and locking mechanism work. Also, if the supplied key works for it too.

FYI 02-03's had keyless entry only for the trunk, so they prob have a separate key that only works for the trunk...

Correct. Which is why I took an 8gb trim and painted it Northstar White. Keyhole delete FTW

That's pretty sweet. But on the flipside if Op decides to go with option 1, be the only 8Gb with keyed entry....if they have a working key of course.

Just giving a update. I did get a Galant. I bought a member Silver_8g's Galant yesterday.
Price was good and i'm loving the car. Just has a few minor issues that i will sort out here this week. Then all will be well. I look forward to hanging out over here more now.

Awesome! I was eyeing this car for a potential DD but it was a bit out my distance range. It seemed like a pretty good deal.

And its funny you went from a 3G to an 8G since I did just the opposite recently.
