    my 8g vr4 brakes on a 7g

my rotors are bigger. so i cant go below size 16 rims. notice the brake carriers of the 8g vr4 - its bigger than the evo 1-3 and 7g vr4 by about 1 inch.

notice the holes. i re-studded the 5holes pcd114 from the 8g vr4 to fit my 4holes pcd114 why? i love my rims and i am keeping them. :)

i am using kevlar pads too.

    the finished product.

i am still using my stock brake lines and dual diaphragm hydrovac.
my 8g vr4 brakes came with abs - i am still thinking if i should make these work on my 7g.

ill post new stuff as they go into the galant. still more to come.

So did you use the 7G carrier with the 8G caliper to bolt to your 7G hub?

Those brakes are the same as Lancer Evo IV as well. They use the same brake pads as the Evo 1~3 and VR-4.

I was thinking of doing a similar conversion, but instead put 8G 5 stud hubs on which has the wider carrier bolt spacing, therefore I could bolt on some Evo V+ Brembo or GTO/3000GT 4 pot calipers.

yup! the pads are the same with the evo 1-3 and 7gvr4. the rotors of the 8g vr4 are bigger than the evo1-3 and 7gvr4.

no. i used the 8g carriers and 8g arms (which connects to the hub and suspension). see first picture -> the left is the 7g hub and arm assemly. the right is the 8g brake carriers. since the 8g carriers are longer by 1 inch, i had to use the 8g arms.

we have a brake assembly of a gto and 17s alloys from a gto lying around here. but that would go maybe in a another car project.

    thanks guys.

yeah. aside from the 8gvr4, i have the same o.e. brakes similar to the evo4 rs -> with size 16s steel rim, no a/c, basically its a competition base car.

btw, i have a cb body lancer (evo 1-3 body), for the braking department, i am using the hydrovac and 2-pot brakes from an evo3 (which is the same brakes as a 7gvr4 and 6gvr4 too - i think)

i just finished bedding in the kevlar pads and rotors. great braking power! i can't wait to bring the galant back in the autocross track. now i can minimize my engine braking (using the 5sp mt/)

my mitsus are in my sig. cardomain page.
