Guess its time for an update.

So I'm now at school and bored as hell, and with the recent blow up on gf I figure I'd update you all as to what I've been doing.

I don't remember where I left off, but here we go.

Ported and polished heads, 5 angle valve job. RPW valve springs, still trying to save money for camshafts though.

Here is the car now rolling on 245/40R17''s with 17 x 8.5 rota slips up front and 17 x 8's in the rear.

Latest 1/4 mile run was 14.58 at 95 mph.
RIP: Colin McRae, you will be missed.

With my +35mm offset it could easily run 255's without any rubbing. If your not trying to tuck tire, there is wide rubber to be had with this platform.

Thats some nice porting on those cylinder heads!

Is the bottom end built or still stock?

Overall the car looks great. Welcome back too

looks awesome! Did you have to roll or cut the rear quarter to stick those 245's on the car?

Another question, when I had my Advans at 235/45/17 when the temperatur rose to about 80-90 degrees the car felt really numb. As in the steering wheel seemed so lose that you wouldnt be able to feel the car at all. Do you have this problem with the 245's or no?

The bottom end is stock for now.

For those who haven't kept up with boostzealots build I'm trying to compete with him. I just don't have the money to get fancy parts like he does.

I have not done any fender rolling or any modifications of any kind to the body or inner fender well.

I'm planning on eventually going with 11.5:1 compression pistons with a slightly more aggressive cam profile then boostzealot. I'm also debating on whether or not to go with a 6G74 or try and push the limits of a 6G72.

It appears that you are dropped more then I am which will cause problems.

The problems you're describing sound like either a tire compound or tire pressure problem. It could also have been the alignment, so there is a multitude of things to check.

Do you have any idea what the tread temperature was?

I can see why you didn't, your ride height is a lot higher than 4G63 lovers is.

Our cars actually handle worse at a lower ride height then mine is. Right now I'm at control arms level at rest. Most dampers won't really do thier job when you get a car down to a 0 body roll condition. I have just enough body roll to make the suspension do its job, while keeping the cg as low as possible.

Also your swaybars don't do anything if your not getting a little body roll, which I use the swaybar to steer with the brakes, which is why my rear bar is very thick and the front bar is stock.

im not sure what the tread temperature was but I know it wasn't the tire pressure, cuz it was at around 35psi when its started to heat up, so I filled it to about 40psi (44psi max) and it was still numb as hell. The alignment was also on point as far as I know. I did talk to my buddy who owns a shop here locally and he told me that it's probably because the tires were too big for the car. I'm going to try a 235/40/17 or a 225/50/16 and see what happens.

So you are at factory specs, for camber? If so thats why, I'm at like -1.2* camber in the front, which provides quite a bit of turn in. Also the .4* of positive toe doesn't hurt.

About -.8* front camber should give you the turn in you desire. Mine is very touchy, which is how I like it, but it can be a handfull on the street, since such little correction causes the car to move alot.

I took the car to the track again.

    It was god awful.

16.3 at 94 mph. I crossed the 1/8th at 70 ish mph still spinning.

The track prep was pathetic, there is no reason a car that barely makes 200 whp should be spinning at the 1/8th, especially on a soft compound 245.
