My homeboy just sent me a picture of my finished intake manifold:
he said the battery tray will be out in a hr or two.
Wow... I wish I had your Galant's body, in my color. I'd love to build one like yours on the side and swap my powertrain in.
That looks really good...
I don't know about clearing them, but I kind of want them a tad darker. Maybe one more coat. The job on the Galant's tails has held up nicely. Do many people clear over the night shades? To me, it almost seemed like it stained the plastic a darker color. I attempted sanding it off my G's 3rd brake light because it was wrinkling, but it just wouldn't sand out. I'm almost thinking it's more of an etching spray than a coating.
that looks awesome silver01g!!! all you need now is a clear/plexi hood to show that off! hehe.
thanks warm! when I put nightshades on my montero sport ages ago, I clearcoated it 2-3 layers and polished it to give it a smooth finish. If I remember correctly, the clearcoat kinda darkened the nightshades. the paint i have now is some japanese brand lens paint. It cost me $29/can...it was a spur of the moment. hehe
GREEN is the new BLACK
Isn't that the stock manifold that's so prone to cracking? Sure it's nice and shiny, but that just seems odd to bother with the stock manifold since it sucks so bad.
yea i know its sucks this is the third one, but this is just for now til i can find me a outlander intake manifold.
i only payed $50 to get it done, so no big deal.
here's the battery tray:
Waiting on the candy purple and candy gold to come in so he can do the fuel rail and bolts. Valve cover is gonna be candy red
My Mk4 is like a Black Hole you enter in it and who the hell knows what'll happen next???
I sure don't, do you?
I wet sanded mine with 400 grit and it sanded right off.
I would recommend using a less harsher grit though so you can just polish it off. When we were at the Foster Beach meet, Eric took his scratch remover/polish IIRC and he got the scratches from wetsanding off, but just to make it easier use a 600 or even an 800. it'll take longer to take it off but it wont scratch the lens as much. and remember to use a little bit of soap.
... Jigz, does it ever occur to you that I try this stuff? I was able to achieve a decent finish with the spray without even sanding last time, so I didn't this time.
I sanded my 3rd brake light until it was taking plastic off. No matter how much sanding I did, it was still a little darker than originally. The Nite Shades dyes the plastic and penetrates quite a bit. I'm pretty sure of that.
...TJ, I can't read minds how am I supposed to know you tried it? lol.
Actually, I think you are right though, cuz I look at these pics and it does look like the tails themselves got darker. I didnt sand the tails when i painted them either.
before tint
after removing tint
shits and giggles, during tint.
going to tint them again though, I liked them better when they were murdered out. theyre DEPO's anyway. lol.
Whoa, yeah, you tinted those way too much for a silver car IMO. I'm sure you've seen in my sig how mine are. Just dark enough to be a few shades darker than the paint.
yeah niteshades doesnt look good unless u add a good layer of clear
