Great How To info right there.
use permatex ultra gray(not red, not black, not blue.... GRAY damnit)
or go to mitsu and get their oil pan sealant. It will cost you though.
Also, when you clean all the old rtv off your pan, lay it on a piece of glass(because you know glass is going to be near perfectly flat) if the pan can wobble or doesn't also lay nearly perfectly flat.... then you need a new pan.
Make sure the pan is clean and free of oil(brake parts cleaner)
make sure the bolts are clean and free of oil(soak in a cup of brake parts cleaner, or get new bolts)
make sure the block mounting surface is clean and free of oil, again.... brake parts cleaner.
The torque spec is very very very low for the oil pan. Its like 16 inch lbs or something(verify this).
So instead of using a ratchet and cranking down on these till all the silicone comes gushing out,
try using just a nut driver, or the proper sized(bit) Phillips screwdriver
also don't forget that the two extra short bolts go under the timing belt. so as not to destroy it and make you cry.
Oh and a BTW.... don't "let the rtv setup" it doesn't need setup time, in fact this has a negative effect on adhesion.
lay that bead and go to work. If you have to touch the rtv to smooth it out or something, make sure you have on a clean nitrile glove so your hands don't contaminate the rtv and effect the bond.

Without a doubt gray rtv is the best stuff to use. Ive always had issues with the red stuff but never with the gray. I didnt know the short bolts were on the timin side though. Lol.
red is high pressure(not all that oil resistant, great for coolant and charge pipe/intake flanges)
blue is basic(high adhesion under normal low stress conditions.. not all that useful on a car)
black is high temp(oil resistant, but not ideal for pans or as a case sealant)
gray is ultra oil resistant(great case sealant)
copper is very high temp(basically for exhaust flanges only)
Purple is magic(yes magic does exist, we've known about it for some time)
unfortunately purple isn't out yet.
and hondabond is glory.

Haven't been able to work on this thing now that im working 12's again, but we are just leaving it for the winter now. Going to pull the engine and transmission back out next weekend clean up the engine bay and install a quaife lsd, with forged pistons and hbeam rods, arp head studs, and 272/282 cams then right as spring rolls around we can have it running again and get it tuned.
