Am I the only person on here who thinks the matte black looks cheap/tacky?

It looks decent on some cars, I probably wouldn't do it to any of my own though:

When it wrap its looks nice.
Usually u get get that uneven almost like stripe when spraying.
Mine is plasti dip with clear coat.

  5. #25705
Haters! I only plastidipped my car cause my paint looked like shit after the car was sitting out in the sun for 3 months. Don't like it? Good :)

If you post stupid and incorrect information, you will get red nuggets.

I think it depends on plasti dip. Yeh, it seems a lot of people are jumping on the bandwagon, but it can look good.
IMO, when it's sprayed through a gun, the results seem much better. Just as if someone is painting their car with spray cans vs. a gun. You almost always see better results.
Pete's car for example looks well done, prepped and complete. It helped the car a lot.
Some other examples I've seen, especially with the streaks in it, may have ruined the car.

lol, your car was in an accident and sat out in the sun, you didn't cover up anything decent (based on what you've said)

Polish improved the car, everyone else has made their cars look awful, IMO.

I agree the thing about plastidip on the whole car is it has to be done with a gun. Otherwise on big panels like hoods and sometimes the side of the car it looks poopy with all the visible spray lines

Very nice! The black trim is such an appropriate detail on your car.

Been awhile since I saw mods done to your car. I was looking at your sig the other day, saw no tint on the windows and was thinking "I would definitely tint those windows"... To my surprise, YOU HAVE TINTED WINDOWS! lol. I was debating on getting rid of the chrome and painting them black... You sir, have tipped the scales; I will be painting mine black lol.

Also, I'm a little disappointed you mentioned 3rd gen tails and I see no shots of the rear end =( Everything looks great! Keep it up.

I agree, G-spots has a ton of can streaks, as does the others. Polish is the onlyones whose doesnt have streaks.

How in the hell do you get those bastards off?

For the fronts, roll the windows down and remove the mirror and door panel. towards the rear of the trim there is a screw that holds it on the b pillar portion of the door. unscrew it and pull up on the trim. if you are trying to reuse the trim be VERY careful because they are a bitch to pop off. I usually bend them in one way or another. for the rear, just roll the window down and unscrew the trim and pop it off the same way. since theres no mirror to remove you can just pry the trim off (with your hands).

I am also sick of all the Plasti-dipped cars. To me it looks cheap. I'd rather roll around with the WIP look than to look like I am too much of a broke ass to paint the car properly. Though, there are exceptions, like Polish's case (cars that were wrecked and resurrected to simply drive and function). Car that are plasti-dipped that had good paint is just ghetto in my book. If you like the Matte black do it right with real paint or if you like the peel off aspect, I 'd spend the money and do a legit vinyl wrap.

Lol @ all the dip haters. I remember when my car was gold no one gave a single fuck about it but everyone flock to NJfudge's gold G as it was all god all mighty now I change color to a more noticable color the same people giving me the same excuse. I didn't do this for TGC, I did this for me and only me. If you don't like, then no fuck was given on my part. But you already knew that.

BTW, I hate purple and extreme blue colored cars. Those are Kool-aid colors. There I said it. Goodnight my friends :)
